National park is Situated at the edge of the sprawling
Dehradun valley a popular destination for nature and adventure
lovers. The Rajaji National Park was founded in 1966 and
spreads over an area of about 820 sq. kms. The park's
pristine scenic beauty and rich biodiversity has been
attracting wild life lovers from India and abroad. This
park has 23 species of mammals and about 315 avifauna
species. The park offers wonderful opportunities for viewing
the wild in their natural habitat. The wildlife here includes
elephant, tiger, panther, bear, chital, sambar, wild boar,
kakar, python, monitor lizard and a wide variety of avian
fauna. The park is open from 15th November to 15th June
and entry is banned after sunrise and sunset. Chilla or
Rajaji national park is 10 kms from Haridwar. |

The tourist season is from November to June.
HOW TO GET THERE
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant which is 24 kms. Away,
nearest railhead is at Haridwar. |
