KANHA NATIONAL PARK

Kanha
National park is situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh
and spread over an area of about 940 kms, which is covered
with forests. Kanha's one part of attraction is that,
situated in a horse-shoe shaped valley. This sanctuary
houses 22 species of mammals in the central parkland. |

park has become more interesting for viewing and photograpy.
This park boasts that it is having the largest variety
of fauna than any other wildlife reserve in the country.
This kanha park is also called as Tiger Land. |

The
other residents of the park are the gaur or Indian bison,
the sambar, the barking deer and the nilgai. Prior to
becoming a National Park, the forest range around the
region had been maintained as a Shikargarh, or game preserve,
of the Maharajahs of Rewa. It was declared as a National
Park in 1968. Since then, stringent steps have been taken
to retain it as an unspoilt natural habitat. |

Tiger, leopard, barasingha, gaur, sambar, chausingha,
nilgai, sloth bear, dhole, barking deer, blackbuck, wild-boar,
langur, red jungle fowl.
HOW TO GET THERE
One can find the nearest town namely Mandla which is 65km
away from the sanctuary, nearest airport for kanha is
in Nagpur, which is about 266kms.from the park. The nearest
railway junction is Jabalpur which is around 16 kms away.
