It is easy to walk around in the compact little town. You
can also hire auto rickshaws or taxis to the various places
around the town. The chance to buy a warm Kullu shawl and
the pomp of the Dusshera festival - two very good reasons
why you must make a trip to the valley in October. Processions
of local gods and goddesses made in gold and silver make
a beeline for Lord Raghunathji's temple. The festival also
showcases the best of local handicrafts. The slopes of the
valley turn into a fair ground where traders put up makeshift
shops and sell exquisite woollen blankets, caps and traditional
footwear pullan (made from plant fibre and goat hair). Located
in Himachal Pradesh, Kullu is a small town located by the
banks of River Beas. Tourists to Manali include a trip to
the nearby town of Kullu as well. But few people know that
this little town has all the pleasures of a hill station
sans the crowds and the noise. Clean air, cold winds, meandering
lanes, scenic hills and the mandatory deodars with the sun
shining through. It is also the ideal base for exploring
the rest of the Kullu Valley with its scenic towns and villages
tucked comfortably on every curve of the valley's slope.

In summer, temperatures range from a maximum of 26 to a
minimum of 12 °C. Winter temperatures vary between a maximum
